Bugs fixed:

  • Error when printing some kinds of Element Report.

V5.0.4.3 – 21st April March 2021

Bugs fixed:

20210421:1 – removed code which tried to detect circular links, whihc made some kinds of model go inot an endless generating loop. Solution proved unreliable, so please be careful when using models which have lots of diagrams,  and where you print diagram+contents, and some of the contents contain diagrams, which print their contents, which contains the first content etc etc.

20210421:2 – removed EA_OnPostNewConnector event handler. No longer used, and old code caused an error in EA sequence diagrams

V5.0.4.1 – 23rd March 2021

Bugs fixed:

20210323:1 – When exporting Profiles, allow for export of profiles where format = ‘do not print’.
20210323:2 -Fixes to the Generator to corerctly recognise where Profile =’do not print’

v5.0.4.0 – 19th March 2021

Change:

When adding a new section from the EA ‘current selection’, eaDocX will generate Profiles for all the elements it finds.

Change is that, if there are already Profiles for any elements, they will not be overwritten, even if the new profile would have a larger number of attributes and relationships.

v5.0.2.16 – 9th March 2021

Bugs fixed:

20210309:1 – fix to make the eaDocXTableSpace Word paragraph style work with non EN/UK languages.

v5.0.2.13 – 1st February 2021

Bugs fixed:

20210201:1 Change to correctly read FormatSettings XML to remove spurious “” characters around strings. This makes V5 more backwards-compatible with V3.

v5.0.1 First production release of V5 – 26th October 2020

Highlights:

  • Moved over to using a generator in a separate thread, so user can stop it before it completes.
  • Progress indicators made more acurate
  • Word no longer updated each time there is an insertion – performance improvement
  • New way of experting EA diagrams, via expert to an XMI file – performance improvement
  • Fixes for non-ENG/UK languages
  • Recent document list now 10 long, not 5

V5 Beta2 – v 5.0.1.2

This is a significant change to eaDocX, as we now have the generator working in the background. We won’t bore you with the technical details, but it means you can :

  • Cancel the generator if it doesn’t look like the document is how you would like it
  • See what’s happening inside the generator, to understand why your document looks the way it does
  • It’s faster! Fewer updates to Word, so larger documents get quite a bit faster
  • Multi-document generation spins-off multiple process to generate all your documents.

Fixes:

  • no more endless loops when entering new license key
  • with complex auto-template documents, if a package is missing from the model, user is warned, and nothing is generated for that section.

eaDocX Version 4

4.3 June 2020

New features:

  • Smarter ‘Auto Templates’. This allows you to create an Auto-template Word document which you can use to create more complex documents more quickly. Previously, Auto-template document could have only one section which changed for each document (section had to be called ‘auto’ ).
Now, you can create sections called, for example, “_Requirements” and when a document is created using this template, eaDocX will look for a packaged called “Requirements” under the source package.
So you can have multiple sections, for example,  “_Requirements”, “_Issues”, “_Overview”, so each time you create a document using this template, provided your naming convention in EA is the same, eaDocX will look for “Requirements”, “Issues” and “Overview” packages, and print them in the appropriate sections.

Bug fixes:

  • Ref: 20200609:1 – Fixed error where Profile options redefine a heading style, and the new style is not present in the current document.
  • Ref: 20200610:1 – Fixed annoying error where both the Inline and Table editors occasionally produce either duplicate entries, or ignore changes.

4.2.3 – 6th April 2020

Removed the check in Auto-Templates which warns the user when an auto-template comes from a different repository. Enables auto-templates to be developed and tested using one repository, then deployed on another.
Fixes:

  • allows for import of Attribute.dataType with eaXL.
  • ‘Save As’ function for DM-managed documents now works as expected

4.2.2 – 31st March 2020

New setup dialog for Quick documents, and much better support for other Word templates in Quick documents. Gives easier access to the existing, and some new, Quick Document capabilities.

4.2.0.2 – 25th Feb 2020

  • minor fix to allow for correct date handelling and change marking with some National Language settings.

4.2 – 3rd Feb 2020

Lots of changes to eaXL:

  • All exports and imports are now asynchonous, yo as well as a progress indicator, you can also cancel an import/export if it’s not what you expected
  • User interface is also locked when this is happening
  • Bulk Import of relationships is now back – this got missed when moving from V3 to V4 (sorry)
  • Creating spreadsheets from a template is also back. Lets you create a ‘master’ spreasheet design, with tables and charts, and use it on multiple sheets with similar content
  • eaXL help now updated – sorry for the delay…
  • Lots of other minor changes and fixes

4.1.19 – 2nd January 2020

Added new setting to allow for export of all diagrams in BITMAP format, which fixes the issue of the right-hand part of the image box not appearing, but can make the image a bit fizzy sometimes.

default bahaviour is as current – export as METAFILE. Option to change is in APPLICATION settings, under ‘Diagram Settings’: “Use a bitmap format when copying diagrams from EA”

4.1.18 – 8th November 2019

New feature to add an option to choose the Word paragraph style for the table caption, to help with the new feature from 4.1.17.

4.1.17 – 6th November 2019

New feature to allow for tables to have automically generated names, if they are ‘inline tables’ – hat is, table of attributes from just one element.

Also fix to use of EA searches in eaXL.

4.1.15 – 25th October 2019

New function added to make it easier to print instances of elements. There are now two ways: existing way (as used by Quick Document) creates a profile for each kind of element which has instances. New way, for situations where all the elements of a type are similar, uses just a single profile for all instances of all elements. See printing instances and inheriting profiles for instances in the help for more details

4.1.14 – 17th October 2019

By popular request, the ‘Compare’ function has been added back into eaDocX/Excel. This allows you to compare what’s in your spreadsheet with what’s in EA BEFORE you import data back into EA. See help

4.1.13 - 4th October 2019

Added new feature to allow eaDocX to use attribute colors from EA, instead of conditional formatting. See https://store.eadocx.com/help/index.html?using_ea_colors.htm

4.1.12 - 30th September 2019

Fixed issue with printing of instances

Instances (elements of type ‘Object’) will now print with the eaDocX Profile for ‘Object’, if no profile can be found for the specific instance

This MAY make a difference to existing documents, which DO have profiles for instances of specific types, but which hae chosen to delete some of them so as not to print specific instances.

If this applies to you, please contact support@eadocx.com

4.1.11.2 - 23rd September 2019

New: eaDocX can now use Word style names which have spaces. This is the oldest EA bug, and comes from a restriction of the Word HTML API, which we’ve now found a way around.

Fixes: various fixes to the UI for Document Management.

4.1.10.0 - 22nd July 2019

New Feature: eaDocX can now print Attributes (that is, attributes of classes) using scripts. Please rememner that these scripts get passed a list of Attribute GUIDs, not element ones.

4.1.9.0 - 7th July 2019

  • started to add support for new Phone Home function. This is currently in test, so please ignore any strange messages!

New Features:

  • two new attributes for any element: ‘Appears in diagrams’ and ‘appears in diagrams – hyperlink’. Shows in which diagrams an element appears, or a hyperlink to the diagram (if it appears in the document)

4.1.8.4 - 4th June 2019

Fixed error with UI for eaDocX/XL, when defining new related elements.

4.1.8.3 - 28th May 2019

Fixes

  1. removed timeout on running of scripts, so they no longer show a ‘timeout’ message if they are taking a long time to run.
  2. changed behaviour when adding new sections from the EA project browser. Now only generates new Profiles for elements which don’t already have one, instead of overwriting them all.

4.1.8.1 - 15th May 2019

  • new feature to allow for loading of Report formats from an exrternal Profile XML file. Makes it easier to put the same report into multiple documents
  • fix to loading of V3 document, where they have Element reports, and those element reports have custom formatting, and that custom formatting has nested formats.

4.1.7.1 - 30th April 2019

Significant change to eaXL, so that when opening a spreadsheet for the first time on a package, data will load asynchronously, so user has a change to say ‘cancel’ if it’s taking too long

Also, this process speeded-up a lot!

Fixes to generation of multiple document (from a diagram of documents) so it allows for external documents. Also more checks for external documents which are not found.

Fixes an error with 4.1.7.0 which had a missing DLL from the installer.

4.1.6.7 - 4th April 2019

Fix to adding of Document Version history in documents which use Document Management

4.1.6.6 - 27th March 2019

4.1.6.3 - 12th December 2018

  • fixed issue with export of tagged-value data in eaXL using V3 profiles.
  • Also changed eaXL UI to make it scale better, and hopefully more readable. MAY also look better on high-DPI screens.
  • NOTE: eaXL Search is not tested in this version, due to lack of time. If you rely on this function, then don’t upgrade – yet.

4.1.6.2 - 10th December 2018

  • fix to eaXl, when opening new empty workbooks, and adding Package sheets

4.1.6.1

  • Fix to generation of heading greater than 6. Remember that to use headings >6, you must have heading styles in Word which do not have spaces, and add those styles to the document settings / Inline settings / Heading override

4.1.5.1 - 18th October 2018

Fixes:

  • Error when inserting images which are not present in the current repository
  • Error when removing/adding Document Management to some documents

4.1.4 - 10th August 2018

  • tables now have CRLF between multiple related element entries (Christophe
  • immediate delete and refresh to Profile tree when stereotypes are deleted

4.1.3 - 8th August 2018

  • fixed error in eaXL for saving of columns which are data from related elements

4.1.0.2 - 18th July 2018

New feature: generate a whole set of documents, as a batch. See online help

Fixes:

  • tables which have lists of links to other elements no longer have a comma, just a line-feed. Looks neater
  • Import of Profile into empty Word document now works OK.
  • Excel ‘export’ button re-connected. Don’t know how that happened…

4.0.8 - 6th July 2018

  • Fix to Conditional Formatting, so it loads correctly fron saved documents.
  • Change to Compact Document – no longer prints tagged values which have no value (that is, value same as the setting for ‘tagged value not available’. Makes documents look a bit tidier, especially when used with option to print TVs in Quick Documents.
